Orlando Car Rental Travel Guide - The Wonders of Life
“I always like to look on the optimistic side of life, but I am realistic enough to know that life is a complex matter.”
- Walt Disney
The Wonders Of Life pavilion is only open seasonally and is not to be missed if you are an Orlando car rental customer who is lucky enough to visit EPCOT Center during these times. One of the best thrill rides in the park is housed in The Wonders Of Life pavilion as well as two delightfully humorous shows. All three attractions are “must-sees” and it’s unfortunate (in my opinion) that a building offering so much to EPCOT Center visitors, is open so little.
Body Wars:
Fashioned after the 1966 science fiction film, Fantastic Voyage, this wild simulator ride takes guests inside of the human body. After boarding your special exploratory vehicle, you and the vehicle are shrunken to the size of a single human cell and injected inside of the body of a man. Your mission is to rescue a trapped scientist who was attempting to remove a splinter inside of the person.
If all goes well, you’ll rescue the scientist and make it out of the man’s body so that you can continue to explore The Wonders Of Life pavilion. If not, I hope this man eats well enough to feed everybody! This riotous romp actually is an education into the way that our immune systems react.
WARNING: If you would like to experience this attraction during your Orlando car rental vacation, you must be at least 40 inches tall. This is a very rough ride and should be avoided by persons with back, neck or shoulder pain. In addition, people suffering from a heart condition, pregnant women and people prone to motion sickness should also take a pass on this attraction.
Cranium Command:
In this lighthearted look into the workings of the human body, visitors are invited to join Buzzy on his first mission after completing basic training as he receives the most difficult assignment of all ... piloting the brain of an adolescent boy!
The Audio-animatronic Buzzy is joined by a variety of popular comedians that play the roles of various organs including the heart (Saturday Night Live’s Hans and Franz - Dana Carvey and Kevin Nealon), Jon Lovitz (the emotional right side of the brain), and Charles Grodin (the logical left side of the brain). Other body part stars include Cheers star, George Wendt (the stomach) and Bobcat Goldthwait (the adrenal gland, of course).
This popular and thoroughly delightful comedic show at The Wonders Of Life pavilion is entertaining to visitors of all age groups and can seat 200 people at a time.
The Making Of Me:
Accompany Martin Short as he goes on a quest in search of how he “came to be” in this humorous and tastefully done look into human reproduction. Watch as the comedic star goes back in time to witness his parents meet, date, fall in love, conceive and finally give birth to him.
Although this heartwarming and humorous film is modestly done, there is a scene of a live birth and the subject matter may be one that some parents do not wish to expose their children to during their visit to The Wonders Of Life pavilion.
Did You Know?
The film that is played during the Body Wars simulator ride at The Wonders Of Life pavilion was directed by Leonard Nimoy (Mr. Spock on Star Trek). Unknown actors at the time (but now, considerably more famous), Elizabeth Shue and Tim Matheson appear in the film as well.
Although walking is a very healthy activity for the human body, it is kind of a drag when you are on vacation. You'll need an Orlando car rental if you want to get around this town. Reserve your Orlando car rental here!
