Orlando Car Rental Travel Guide - San Francisco/Amity
Jaws:
It’s been years since the shark incidents occurred in the town of Amity. Time has obscured the memories of the terror the whole town felt during those days. Board this casual sightseeing boat and learn a little of the history behind the days of the vicious attacks that left the town of Amity paralyzed with fear.
... but wait ... it can’t be ... the shark was killed!
You’ll soon be thinking “we’re going to need a bigger boat!” as you and your tour guide face down the most feared ocean predator known to man. Good monsters never die and hopefully neither will you, as your life is now in the hands of your boat captain. Can he get you back to the safety of land or will you become a statistic in the next Jaws movie? An Express Pass is available for this ride.
WARNING: This should go without saying but parents should use extreme caution when bringing small children aboard this Orlando car rental vacation attraction. The shark is very realistic and very few children relish the thought of becoming fish food!
Disaster - A Major Motion Picture Ride ... Starring You!:
Why hang around your hotel room waiting for a hurricane to happen when you have the opportunity to experience a natural disaster and be cast in a movie at the same time?
Universal Studios employs the first large scale, permanent use of a technological trick called “musion” at this attraction. The technique makes it possible to bring the illusion of Christopher Walken to the stage as Frank Kincaid, the director of a new disaster movie being filmed there by Disaster Studios. Guests at the Disaster - A Major Motion Picture Ride ... Starring You! attraction stare in amazement as the virtual image of Walken is able to run onto the stage and negotiate around actual furniture on the set. As Frank Kincaid, Walken is there to cast a few extras for his newest disaster movie, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
After selecting a handful of people to play specific roles, the audience moves to another room where they watch the newly cast extras film short clips - complete with special effects, that will be utilized in the movie. From there, visitors to Disaster - A Major Motion Picture Ride ... Starring You! move to the ride portion of the attraction. The ride is more or less the same as the old Earthquake attraction that closed just two months before reopening under the new name with the new musion intro in January of 2008.
Walls crumble, the ceiling collapses, the earth opens up and fuel trucks explode as park guests experience an earthquake while riding a San Francisco subway. When the ride is over, visitors to Disaster - A Major Motion Picture Ride ... Starring You! get to the see the 90-second trailer for the newly shot movie with the previously filmed clips fused into the action that stars The Rock. An Express Pass is available for this ride and should be utilized, since it is the “newest” attraction at the park.
For some reason, children don’t seem to find Disaster - A Major Motion Picture Ride ... Starring You! all that frightening so I won’t post any warnings about it here. Only you know your children best, however, and can anticipate their reactions to exploding objects and the intense heat that emanates from the flames during the ride.
Fear Factor Live:
Why settle for a boring old theme park hamburger when you could be eating worms or cow brains for free? Cashing in on the popularity of the Fear Factor television show, Universal Studios Florida offers select theme park guests the opportunity to compete against one another in physical as well as emotional challenges meant to test their endurance, resolve and ability to stomach the grotesque.
A “casting” process is utilized to select the six park guests who will compete against one another in three different challenges at this attraction and an additional 18 audience members are selected to participate in other roles.
Beetlejuice’s Graveyard Review:
Talk about the grateful dead! Attending a monster rock concert never had a more different meaning. This uhh ... lively(?) show features some of the most famous monsters in film history as they rock out to popular songs from today and yesterday and has long been an Orlando vacation favorite!
Joining the host of the show; Beetlejuice, are Wolfman, Dracula, Frankenstein and his bride in a show designed to wake the dead. Audiences of all ages love this show, which plays at a small outdoor amphitheater in the San Francisco/Amity section of the theme park. Visitors who would like to get a seat at it should be advised to show up at least twenty minutes before one of the scheduled show times.
The Inside Spin
- At the Jaws attraction, you may notice a bunch of shoes laying about. They represent the only things left from park visitors who did not make it back from previous sightseeing tours.
- There is a giant bass speaker placed under the floor of the Richter’s Burgers restaurant that makes the entire floor vibrate periodically as tremors occur.
If you are a contestant in the Fear Factor Live show and happen to acquire a taste for cow brains, monkey guts, earthworms or any of the other scrumptuous delicacies that are on the menu during your particular competition, please try to refrain from eating these things in your Orlando car rental. The slime from earthworms and the drippings from body innards tend to stain the seats of a car and you may be charged extra for stain removal. If you haven't reserved your Orlando car rental yet, you can reserve your Orlando car rental here.
