Founded in 1989 as an NBA expansion team, the Orlando Magic professional basketball team has gone on to become one of the south's most influential teams both on and off the court. Team History

Since the Magic burst onto the scene in 1989 they've been causing quite a stir in their division, continually producing some the games most influential players and participants. Prominent players on the Magic's roster have included everyone from Shaquille O'Neal and Penny Hardaway to Tracy McGrady and Turkish born Hedo Turkoglu. Known for their fierce competitive edge and undeniable drive, the Orlando Magic has failed to win an NBA Championship, making it to the Conference Championship just once in 1995. Although the Magic have suffered some recent let-downs they've also posted some exceptional numbers, starting the 2004-2004 season with a promising 13-6 record. Dwight Howard would also become the first rookie to ever start and play in all 82 season games, becoming one of the few players on the team to boast consistent double-double statistics. Jameer Nelson would also improve throughout the season, providing veteran player Grant Hill with plenty of help on the offensive end. Highlights from last season included defeating two of the leagues toughest teams, the San Antonio Spurs and Detroit Pistons. A pivotal part of the Orlando Community for 15 years, the Orlando Magic professional basketball team is dedicated to providing underprivileged kids with the chance to excel in school and life. During the 2004-2005 season the Orlando Magic Community Relations Department helped to inspire nearly 75,000 kids through player appearances, community programs, donated merchandise and service projects. The team also donated nearly 45,000 tickets to underprivileged families providing them with the opportunity to experience the positive repercussions of involvement through sport and team activities.
