Orlando Car Rental Travel Guide - Universal Islands of Adventure
As part of their efforts to compete head to head with Disney, Universal’s Islands Of Adventure was created as a sister park to Universal Studios Florida along with a nighttime entertainment complex (CityWalk) and three first class resort hotels. Now; instead of just being something to do when you’ve done all of Walt Disney World, this latest large piece of the puzzle has made Universal Orlando a true Orlando vacation destination unto itself.
Whether it is roller coasters, water rides or state of the art simulators that you seek, Universal’s Islands Of Adventure is where the action is! Each section of the theme park is its own island, having a different theme, different music and even different walkways than the other ones. Inside, you’ll encounter super heroes, cartoon characters, mythical legends, evil villains and monsters as well as an island of dinosaurs.
Like the other popular Universal park, Universal Studios Florida, this park is extremely popular with the teen set but still has areas dedicated to the smaller children that may be in your group. Also like its sister park, Universal’s Islands Of Adventure employs some of the latest technological breakthroughs in theme park innovation. Many now claim this to be the best theme park in the Orlando vacation area.
Close enough to walk to from the Universal Studios Florida theme park, there is no need to hop into your car to go between the two. Far enough away; however, to immerse Orlando vacationers into a completely different world with no sign of the other park visible from within, Islands of Adventure is a must-see theme park for those who crave adrenaline-pumping, heart-racing action.
Click on any of the buttons at the top left to explore the different islands and the adventures that await within. I have included the vast majority of the attractions in each section but have left out a few of the smaller ones that, frankly, I had nothing to say about.
Unfortunately, almost everything is so popular at Universal’s Islands Of Adventure, that there is no clear cut order in which I would recommend doing the attractions. Fortunately, they are all so popular that no single ride’s lines are any longer than the others so the crowd is a little better dispersed. The one exception to this would be the Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man attraction. Anyone who has ever been on this ride will tell you that; not only is it the best ride in the whole Orlando vacation area, but it is absolutely the best ride ever created. There is simply nothing in the world like it! It never ceases to amaze me how many people tell me that they did not get to experience this world-class ride because the queues were too long - even after I have told them it is an absolute must-see attraction! Please heed my advice ... GET AN EXPRESS PASS FOR THIS ATTRACTION THE MOMENT YOU ENTER Universal’s Islands Of Adventure!

There’s one final thing to consider when deciding which order to do the attractions in. There are several water rides at Universal’s Islands of Adventure. Although the signs at these rides state that you “may” get wet, there is really no doubt; based upon my experience with these rides, that you will more than likely get absolutely soaked. You might want to spread these rides out so that you can dry off a little in between each one. On the other hand, you might decide to do them all in a row and then change into something dry if you have brought a change of clothes and stored them in a locker. One thing is for certain: you definitely do not want to follow a water ride with an indoor attraction in the cold air conditioning.
Many people store an extra change of clothes in their Orlando car rental. This way, they do not have to pay for a storage locker. If you haven't reserved your Orlando car rental yet, you can reserve your Orlando car rental here.
