Orlando Car Rental Travel Guide - Germany Pavilion

Although this country’s contribution to The World Showcase features no films or rides, the attraction of the Germany pavilion is the culture, arts, food and festivities that abound.
In the center of the courtyard at the Germany pavilion, there stands a fountain with a statue of a dragon and St. George - patron saint of soldiers. Legend has it that, on his way to the Middle East, St. George slayed this very dragon. This is an excellent place for an Orlando vacation photograph! Children will especially love the village scene outside of the Germany pavilion, where a model train circles the incredibly detailed little town.
Das Biergarten has always been a favorite of visitors to the Germany pavilion. Here, it is Octoberfest year round. The sumptuous buffet offered at this restaurant includes a variety of German sausages, sauerbraten, smoked pork loin and rotisserie chicken with the traditional accompaniments of red cabbage, sauerkraut and German style potatoes. Those that have brought a sweet tooth with them on their Orlando vacation won’t want to miss the tantalizing desert of German style cheesecake and strudel! There are, of course, a variety of German beers to choose from while patrons are treated to lively German music, traditional folk dancing and yodeling by the lederhosen-clad Oktoberfest Musikanten.
For folks who do not have time for a sit down meal, Sommerfest is a counter service restaurant at the Germany pavilion offering bratwurst, frankfurters, sauerkraut and apple strudel. For the sweet tooth set, Sussigkeiten offers a delicious assortment of nuts, baked goods, candies and chocolates.
The shops at the Germany pavilion are unsurpassed. Those visitors wishing to take home a unique item from their Orlando vacation will surely find exceptional pieces here. At the Glas Und Porzellan shop, you can purchase Hummel and Goebel collectibles or pop into Kunstarbeit In Kristall for fine Arribas Brothers crystal. At Volkskunst, incredibly detailed German beer steins, cuckoo clocks, nutcrackers, music boxes and fine timepieces can be found. Stop by Die Weihnachts Ecke while visiting the Germany pavilion for a very special Christmas ornament or the Weinkeller, where you will have an opportunity to taste and purchase some of the best wines that Germany has to offer. Children, especially, will love Der Teddy Bar, a toy store at the Germany pavilion filled with stuffed animals, puppets, dolls and (of course) teddy bears.
If you are around the Germany pavilion at the top of the hour when the bells on the Clocktower ring, you will witness two Hummel figurines come out of the clock - a scene reminiscent of the famous Glockenspiel in Munich. You’ve got to add a picture of this to your Orlando vacation photo album!
If you plan on spending a significant amount of time in the beer garden at the Germany pavilion, please remember to have a designated driver. Nothing can spoil a vacation more than seeing the flashing lights in your rear view mirror as one of "Orlando's Finest" pulls you over in your Orlando car rental after you have had one (or more) too many! Don't forget to reserve your Orlando car rental!.
