Orlando Car Rental Travel Guide - Future World
“"It will be a community of tomorrow that will never be completed but will always be introducing and testing and demonstrating new materials and systems." - Walt Disney on EPCOT
The name “Future World” is really a bit of a misnomer. Although a vision of the future is present everywhere, each section of this part of EPCOT’s Future World also takes us into the past and present, presenting the journey of technology in every aspect of our lives.
Although it may initially seem like the concept behind EPCOT’s Future World would be a bit dry or even boring, the theme park creators have done an amazing job of creating a learning experience that is engaging, thought provoking and actually fun. Below, I offer a brief description of the different sections of EPCOT’s Future World. You may click on the underlined links or use the navigation bar at the top, right to explore pages that will give a full description of the offerings at each section of the Future World portion of EPCOT.
Spaceship Earth isn’t really about space or the earth. Rather, it is a journey into the history of communication that takes us from the days of the cavemen to Egyptian hieroglyphics to the predictions of days yet to come.
The Universe of Energy takes us even further back in time - to the days when dinosaurs roamed the earth - in order to demonstrate how the fossil fuels we use today were formed and how we will need to come up with alternative sources of energy in order to survive in the future. This pavilion at EPCOT’s Future World is, personally, one of my favorite attractions in the entire Orlando vacation area.
At The Seas with Nemo & Friends, park guests learn the vital role that the planet’s seas play in our lives. Our past interactions as well as how these vast bodies of water may play an important part in our future are explored in this section of Future World.
The Wonders of Life is a fun and even action-packed adventure into the amazing machine known as the human body. This building is now only open seasonally, during the busier seasons. Every one of the attractions housed inside are well worth seeing if you are taking your Orlando vacation during the more popular times of the year.
The Land features attractions that depict some of the flora and fauna that have populated the planet from times before man existed and some of the technology that can, and may yet, be employed to help sustain us in the future.
The Imagination pavilion explores perhaps the most vital aspect of our future. That is, the vision to explore new possibilities in technology by utilizing the creative abilities that we each possess in our own minds. This building houses some of the most popular attractions at EPCOT’s Future World.
Innoventions is divided into two pavilions, East and West, and is where park guests can explore the latest advances in technologies that we can actually use today. These cutting edge “innoventions” cross the wide spectrum from video games to the “house of tomorrow.”
At Mission Space, guests have the opportunity to brave the adventures of space travel. Here, you will experience the excitement of a countdown before liftoff on your way to Mars.
Test Track is easily Walt Disney World’s fastest ride, reaching speeds of up to 65 miles-per-hour. Riders get to experience the various tests that are performed on vehicle prototypes before they reach the marketplace. This ride is often cited by many people as one of their favorite experiences at EPCOT’s Future World.
It's time to get busy and start clicking. There is almost as much to explore on this site about Future World as there is at the park, itself! Before you do so, however, be sure to reserve your Orlando Car Rental if you have not already done so.
