Fantasyland “Must See” Rides & Shows

Although there are many rides at Fantasyland, most aren't all that different from rides found at many other amusement parks or even carnivals. You are probably thinking to yourself, "I drove my Orlando car rental all the way over here for carnival rides?" Not exactly; these rides all have Disney themes with Disney characters and this is the favorite part of the park for the little ones. Fantasyland also features this outstanding not-to-be-missed show!

Mickey’s Philharmagic:

This incredible 3-D show featuring Donald Duck is a genuine treat for the eyes and ears and should not be missed if The Magic Kingdom is part of your Orlando vacation plans. This Absolute Must See Fantasyland attraction is really more like a “5-D” movie as visitors experience sensations like wind and vibrations as well as smells that accompany the 3-D visual effects.

Guests become so engrossed in the special effects, that they frequently don’t even realize the movie has expanded from it’s original stage screen to an almost 180-degree one. In addition to Donald Duck, some of the other Disney favorites included in this show are Flounder, Ariel, Simba, Alladin, Tinker Bell, Peter Pan and even Mickey! Many well-known Disney songs make up the soundtrack as well.

Fantasyland Secrets

The Winnie the Pooh Adventure replaced Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride in Fantasyland. Look over your shoulder as you enter Owl’s house. There is a framed picture of Mr. Toad on the wall handing over the deed to the property.

There are only two figures representing the United States in the It’s a Small World ride in Fantasyland. One is an Eskimo and the other is a cowboy.

In your quest for souvenirs of your Orlando vacation, go into “Sir Mickey’s Shop” in Fantasyland and check out the giant who is peeking in the window. He is from Mickey and the Beanstalk.

Throughout the day, you will frequently find various Disney characters milling about, unannounced, near the rear of the castle. This can be a perfect opportunity to snap a great picture of your Orlando vacation.

Fantasyland Ride Restrictions:

Snow White’s Scary Adventures: Although Prince Charming and Snow White live happily ever after in the end, the witch appears on numerous occasions throughout this two-and-a-half minute ride and can be terrifying to some easily frightened children. Only you know your child best and can determine whether this Fantasyland attraction is to be visited or not.

The lines for what many consider to be "kiddie" rides can get rather long. The best time of day to experience Fantasyland is duing the parade - especially if you have already seen the parade. Also, if you haven't done so already, don't forget to reserve your Orlando car rental!
