Opened on Earth Day, Disney’s Animal Kingdom is unlike any other Orlando vacation attraction. It’s official advertising slogan, “Nahtazu,” gets straight to the point because this animal park is unlike any “zoo” you have ever been to. The intricate attention to detail that Orlando car rental customers have come to expect from Disney is evident in every aspect of the 500 acres that makes up this gem of a theme park.

At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, park guests will discover more than 1,700 animals representing 250 different species from every part of the globe. Disney has made every possible effort to ensure that the animals exist in as close to their natural environments as possible. More than four million trees, plants, shrubs and grasses have been brought to Disney’s Animal Kingdom in an effort to recreate the native habitats of the park’s inhabitants.

Special diets are also a consideration that Disney has not forgotten for the animals that consume around three tons of food per day. Even the barriers that separate park guests from the animals are made in such a way that they appear to be natural or are completely invisible.

It wouldn’t be a Disney park if there weren’t rides and shows, however. In this regard, Disney’s Animal Kingdom does not disappoint. The theme park hosts some of Walt Disney World’s best shows and offers rides that will delight all age groups as well.

Occasionally, I have heard people say that Disney’s Animal Kingdom is only a half day park. It is a shame that some people, in their rush to wedge as much as they possibly can into their Orlando vacation, don’t take the time to step back, take a breath and truly appreciate all that this park has to offer. These are invariably the same people who claim to have seen all of EPCOT in a day. Take my advice ... take some time, relax a little on your Orlando vacation and take in all of the beauty and majesty that this park with a message of conservation and preservation has to offer.
